Palmerston North's Centrepoint Theatre is the only professional theatre in New Zealand outside of the four main centres of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin.
Professional theatres like Centrepoint play a vital role in growing New Zealand's arts community by creating work for professional actors, designers, and technicians - skilled practitioners who keep theatre in New Zealand thriving.
Since 1974, we have built our reputation on outstanding theatre designed to inspire, entertain and challenge audiences.
Our professional theatre is vital, accessible and relevant to all.
— OUR VISION —
Our mission is to create theatre that engages and reflects our community. We are committed to theatre that is accessible to all and we are inspired by a shared belief that it plays an integral part in our society.
We are particularly proud of our track record in producing local content for our local audience. Many New Zealand plays that have been developed and premiered at Centrepoint have gone on to successful runs in theatres across the country.
