“Improv has had a profound impact on my daily life since taking ‘Intro to Improv’ back in 2023. The concept of “Yes, and…” goes way beyond the stage and can, and should, be applied to daily life. Improv has given me skills in the workplace on top of improved social skills. I took the class because it was something I thought I could do and it turned into so much more. I have taken what I learned in improv class and spread it to my coworkers and friends as well. To find out what I am talking about, come try improv, you will not be disappointed and you might even make a friend or two!”
- Robert Stack
Over the years I have completed a few of the improv courses through Centrepoint and I intend to join again in 2025, I guess making me a bit of a junkie now! At first I joined for fun, which it always is - it's a fine mix of playtime and learning new skills but have found the classes benefit in many ways; for myself for both personal and professional growth. I've ran drama groups for children and returned again to the Centrepoint classes to help up skill and for inspiration incorporating more improv and new theatresports games into our children's classes. The tutors bring a wealth of experience and create a safe and fun environment for participants to build the confidence to leave their inhibitions at the door. As adults we often forget to make time for ourselves for enjoyment and having fun. If I were to describe the class experience in one word it would be JOY. The tutors provide a space where every person in class not only learns real life applicable skills (such as public speaking, group work, improving communication skills) but where comradery is built and people can let loose. People from all walks of life and with a myriad of personalities attend and everyone has enjoyed the classes and gained from them. I've met people from experienced performers who pick up new skills and tips to the most mild and introverted who's confidence and public speaking abilities have grown and flourished in front of me. Sheer beauty to witness. As I said - joy. I cannot recommend enough. Give it a go!
